This Research Fellow position is for work on an Australian Research Council funded Linkage Project, in collaboration with Prof Alex Grant , A/Prof Linda Davis, Dr Nick Letzepis and Dr Ingmar Land at the聽 , in partnership with THISS Technologies Pty Ltd (Singapore) and Schlumberger Oilfield (UK).聽


The Research Fellow will work on innovative physical layer signal design and receiver design for low鈥恈ost satellite communication systems. Of particular interest are techniques for mitigation of radio聽channel impairments due to interference and uncertainty in channel parameters. The successful applicant will possess a high degree of mathematical sophistication, and a strong background in communications 聽theory, modern error control codes, and scientific programming. 聽Exposure to DSP or VHDL implementations is also preferable. The聽research fellow will work closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team (ITR and THISS) to ensure that the research directions are well grounded in practical considerations, and to provide a pathway for technology transfer and commercialisation.
