The Claude E. Shannon Award of the IT Society has been institued to honor consistent and profound contributions to the field of information theory. Each Shannon Award winner is expected to present a Shannon Lecture at the following ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Ö±²¥ International Symposium on Information Theory. Transcripts of some of the lectures are available on-line.

Starting with the 2009 Award, the Shannon Award Committee has issued an open call for nominations.Ìý Although anyone may make a nomination, preferably using the nomination form below , Ìýthe Committee retains the responsibility of assuring that a suitable slate of candidates is nominated, and may itself generate nominations. Nominations and optional letters of endorsement must be submitted by March Ìý1 to the current President of the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Ö±²¥ Information Theory Society Ìý( Giuseppe Caire ).
