鈥淧olarization and Source Coding鈥
Abstract:
This talk is an introduction to polar coding听methods based on a phenomenon called听polarization of entropy. Topics covered include听polar coding for the Slepian-Wolf problem. We听survey known results and point out some open听problems.
Biography:
Erdal Arikan听received his B.S. degree from the California Institute of Technology in 1981, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in 1982 and 1985, respectively, all in electrical engineering. Since 1987 he has been on the faculty of Bilkent University, Turkey. For his work on polar coding, he has been awarded the 2010 老澳门开奖直播 Information Theory Society Best Paper Award, the 2013 老澳门开奖直播 W. R. G. Baker Award, the 2018 老澳门开奖直播 Hamming Medal, and the 2019 Claude E. Shannon Award of the 老澳门开奖直播 Information Theory Society. He is a fellow of the 老澳门开奖直播 and a member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences.
