Latin American Week on Coding and Information
Research in Coding Theory is increasing in Latin America, spanningÌýinterdisciplinaryÌýaspects inÌýMathematics,ÌýEngineering, and Computer Science.Ìý°Õ³ó±ðÌýLatin AmericanÌýcommunityÌýhas been active both in scientific and in organizational aspects. In the last 5 years, three important international eventsÌýhaveÌýbeenÌýorganized in the continent: the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Ö±²¥ – Information Theory Workshop (ITW), inÌýParatyÌý(Brazil) 2011, theÌýSPCodingSchoolÌýin Campinas (Brazil) 2015 and the Colombian Workshop on Coding Theory in Barranquilla (Colombia) 2015.Ìý
°Õ³ó±ðÌý Ìýwill take place at University of Campinas –ÌýUnicampÌý– in Brazil, from July 22 to July 27, 2018.  It consists of aÌýthree-day schoolÌýfollowed by aÌýthree-day workshop.Ìý
The  School (July 22-24)  aims to attract young students in Mathematics,ÌýElectrical EngineeringÌýand Computer ScienceÌýto develop research in the area of Coding and Information Theory.ÌýItÌýwill bringÌýtogether aboutÌý60 students (master andÌýPhD),Ìýespecially from Latin America. °Õ³ó±ðÌýkernel of the schoolÌýare five mini-courses (tutorials)Ìýgiven byÌýleadingÌýspecialistsÌýworldwide.ÌýSpecial lectures, problems sessions and socialÌýeventsÌýwill enhance the program.Ìý
The Workshop (July 25-27) will cover main topics in the area. Contributions of original papers on all aspects of coding or informationÌýtheoryÌýare sought in the formÌýof extended abstracts (4 to 6 pages).ÌýAfter the conference, participants of theÌýworkshopÌýwill be invited to submit a full version of the workÌýto a special issue ofÌýAdvances of Mathematics in Communications.Ìý
