2016 European School of Information Theory

The European School of Information Theory (ESIT) Ìýis an annual educational event, organized by the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Ö±²¥ Information Theory Society, for graduate students from institutes throughout Europe and beyond. The objective of the school is to provide the students with the opportunity (i) to learn from distinguished lecturers by attending long-format (3 hour) tutorials, (ii) to present their own work to obtain feedback and to start up collaborations, (iii) to hear about applications of information theory in industry, and (iv) to participate in a stimulating and inviting forum of scientists.

This year topics include wireless networks, distributed-storage systems, fiber-optical systems, modern coding theory, and nonasymptotic Shannon theory. Tutorial lectures will be given by

Applications of information theory in industry will be covered in a dedicated session sponsored by Ericsson . Finally, poster sessions will give the opportunity to the attendees to present their scientific work, obtain feedback, and initiate novel collaborations in a largely informal setting.

Registration includes the 6 tutorial lectures, a visit to Ericsson facilities in Gothenburg on Wednesday, April 6, lunches and coffee breaks from Monday, April 4 to Friday, April 8, a welcome reception at Dicksonska Palatset (sponsored by the City of Gothenburg) on Monday, April 4,Ìýwhere 1st Deputy Lord Mayor Ã…se-Lill Törnqvist is the host,Ìýand a banquet on Thursday evening, April 7.

Early registration with IT Society student membership includes also accommodation in a shared room . See details below.

Registrants will be asked to provide a tentative title for their poster presentation.

Registration includes accommodation in a shared room (two persons in total) at from Sunday, April 3 to Friday, April 8. Internet access is included. The SGS rooms are located at walking distance from Chalmers campus.

Note : this registration option is reserved to ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Ö±²¥ IT Society student members . You need to be an ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Ö±²¥ IT Society student member before registering; follow to become a member. Since the number of available rooms is limited, this registration option is available only to the first 70 students who will register.

  • Early registration for studentsÌý without ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Ö±²¥ IT Society student membership and all other participants [ deadline: February 2, 2016 ]:Ìý 3000 SEK
