The 2019 European School of Information Theory (ESIT) was held in the French Riviera during April 15-19

The European School of Information Theory (ESIT)Ìýis an annual educational event, organized by the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Ö±²¥ Information Theory Society, for graduate students from institutes throughout Europe and beyond. The objective of the school is to provide the students with the opportunity (i) to learn from distinguished lecturers by attending long-format tutorials, (ii) to present their own work to obtain feedback and to start up collaborations, (iii) to hear about applications of information theory in industry, and (iv) to participate in a stimulating and inviting forum of scientists.

Venue

The School of 2019 will be held in the French Riviera.ÌýThe lectures will be given in the new amphitheater atÌýÌýin Sophia Antipolis. Housing will be provided in the beautiful town ofÌý, with convenient bus connections to EURECOM and to the airport ofÌýNice Cote d'Azur.

Social Events

Monday evening - Aperitif on the beach

We shall have a drink and some snacks during 18:30-20:30, on Plage de la Salis, at the restaurant Casa Gianni, 52 Boulevard James Wyllie, Antibes.

If weather is good, we may play beach volleyball in front of the restaurant!

Wednesday afternoon - Guided tours in Nice

We shall organize two 2-hour guided tours in Nice, starting at 14:00 and 16:00, respectively, atÌýPlace Massena, near the fountain.

There will be a shuttle bus for those who wish to go to Nice directly after the lecture.

Registration is required for the tours and for the bus.

Wednesday evening - Banquet

The conference banquet will be at the restaurantÌý, 13 Cours Saleya,ÌýNice. It will start at 19:30.

Two shuttle buses leaving at 22:30 and 23:30, respectively, will bring participants from the restaurant back to Antibes.
